We had a great experience with the Barking Lot. We submitted our application online, scheduled a home visit within a week, and went to meet dogs a couple days after that. The dog we originally had our eye on was being adopted when we arrived, so they listened to what we were looking for and introduced us to several other dogs who fit the bill. They give you as much time as you need with each dog and let you take them for a little walk to get to know them. We fell in love with one and picked her up the next day after she had been spayed. Every dog we met was healthy, happy, and well cared for. The volunteers clearly love the dogs and care deeply about matching them with great homes. As other reviews have mentioned, communication isn't always immediate, and it's not the most organized place on earth. I imagine this is because they are a donation-based, volunteer-run organization rescuing dogs from literally all over the world. They have a lot going on, and what they do is not easy. Be patient and follow their process, and you won't have any issues.
its a shame that they refuse dogs to Good homes. The Barking lot reviewed our application, we passed the home check with flying colors and the last email I received from them they said if we liked a dog we could take it home that day. They turned us away at the door after a lady Stacy looked at us, made us wait outside the wear house in the heat for 15min. She turned us away and didn't let us see any dogs after she said she then reviewed our application? It had been a two week process emailing back and forth. I felt she discriminated against my family. This place will waist your time and over charge you

Very poor customer service. The dogs seemed nice but the woman forced me and my grandmother outside. Before we left she told us not to try and pet any dogs, even though we weren’t (they all lay around the store together). We will not be going back. The conditions did not seem clean and it is not professional.
Loved this rescue place! Dedicated volunteers, strict screening of adopters, will work with you to get the right dog.
